We are four writers of vastly different styles, genres, hell, even ages. Together, we formed SHEG (which stands for Super Hardcore Editing Group), a critique group devoted to serious structural editing that helps each of us bust through resistance and tell a better story.
Xina Marie Uhl
Xina, pictured here with her overlord Charley, lives in sunny Southern California with her family and a minor menagerie of dogs, cats, birds, and aquatic creatures. She has worked at many different jobs in her life, from accounting clerk to history instructor, but writing has been something she has always done. Her published humor includes A Fairy Tail and Out of the Bag and The Cat’s Guide to Human Behavior. Her fantasy titles include The Ruling Elite and Other Stories (with Janet Loftis), Necropolis, The Gauntlet Thrown and The Challenge Accepted, Books One and Two of the Gauntlet Trilogy (with Cheryl Dyson).
When not writing, she enjoys photography, travel, pizza, and fine Arizona Mexican food, not necessarily in that order. She maintains a blog, and also posts to Facebook and Twitter.
Feel free to join her occasional mailing list to be notified about new releases.
Sue lives with her husband and daughters on a quasi-urban farm in Portland, Oregon. A freelance writer since 2009, she’s the sort of person who gets crazy excited about crafting stories. The shitty first draft of her first novel is owed entirely to the project management skills of her daughter, who was six-years-old at the time. That book is now agented by Quill Shift Literary. Though she writes fiction for children, she swears more than any other SHEGGER.
After a career in public service during which she wrote fiction to stay sane, Anne Hawley has turned her talents to writing professionally.
As a founding member of SHEG, she writes and edits from her small house in Portland. She’s luxuriously single, offspringless, and car-free, and when she leaves the house it’s usually on her Dutch bike, Eleanor.
She’s finishing her third novel, Restraint, a romantic historical social saga set in 19th century London. She can be found @darkemeralds on Twitter.
She swears way more than Sue.
